Cake Picnic goes to London, bacon flavored Cinnamon Toast Crunch, more food flavored/scented lip balms that are frankly, an aBALMination, a Margiela Spoon, and some other thangz!
brought Cake Picnic to London last weekend and I was there to witness cake’s equivalent of Glastonbury! Except it was the oh so very sweet and wholesome version. There was a morning and afternoon session (both of which sold out very quickly) and cake cameos from London bakers like Lily Vanilli, April’s Baker (pictured above), Great British Bake Off finalist, Christiaan de Vries, and more! Nothing like cake for breakfast, even if it means dragging my ass up at 8am and commuting an hour across London after pub hopping with friends the night before. My original plan was to bake a cake in Paris, travel with it in the Eurostar, and frost it at my friends’ place in London but the heat wave had other plans for me so I did the next best thing - I ordered a cake from Chin Chin Ice Cream who happens to have an ongoing cake collab with my cake idol, Hebe Konditori.

Panera Bread released a “S’MAC & CHEESE” lip balm set that is. . . you guessed it, mac ‘n’ cheese (& bread) scented. Go ahead and “S’mac My Day” by buying it HERE, lolz. It’s no Rhode Lemontini but if you’ve seen my last couple of newsletters, you’ll recall releases like the Burt’s Bees x Mike’s Hot Honey Lip Balm as well as the EOS x Blue Moon Lip Balm.
recently reported that Glossier will also be releasing a collaboration with Magnolia Bakery in just a few days. It would appear that the quirky food oriented lip products aren’t going anywhere.
And to double down on that statement, just this week, London-based Architects of Taste (& more) Bompas & Parr gifted Kebab flavoured lip balms to attendees of their recent lecture at The Barbican and yes, I was lucky enough to get my hands on one. I guess this means we should all keep balm and carry on.
Speaking of London, Future of Food - a new, free, and self-explanatory exhibition debuts on July 24th running through January 4th, 2026 at the Science Museum in London.
Lidl by Lidl released a parka jacket yesterday (Wed, July 9th) on its UK website for just £30, as an homage to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher’s iconic Berghaus campaign. The “new jacket features two built-in drink cooling pockets to stop roadies getting warm. . . And it doesn’t stop there – as the zipper doubles as a bottle opener, too.” This release comes just in time for Oasis’ reunion tour and all proceeds from the jacket launch will go to Lidl’s charity partner, the NSPCC. Naturally, it’s already sold out.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch released a “Bacon Flavor” cereal just this week as a Walmart exclusive but even if it’s geared towards Walmart shoppers, I still can’t bring myself to believe that someone asked for this. They were released on the Walmart website on July 8th “while supplies last” but there was nothing to be found when I quickly scoured the site. (I feel like they make maybe 10 of these so that when it "sells out”, it seems cool and covetable, lolz). I DID HOWEVER, find that their original collaboration product with Hormel, WHICH IS A BACON, that’s CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH FLAVORED, IS INDEED still available so you can now rest easy and purchase it HERE. Phew, that was a close one huh? What on earth would you do without your Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavored bacon fix?!
Soooo it would appear that McDonald’s Japan is elite because according to HypeBeast Taiwan, they have merch that includes a double quarter pounder hand-held fan, metal tumblers meant to look like Coca Cola Cans with the McDonald’s logo, and McNuggets that are bag clips!? I need more deets!!
