Anya Hindmarch's idiosyncratic ice cream flavors return for their 4th year, Molly Baz is coming for Hailey Bieber's accessory queen title, BonBon x Tory Burch, Scarr's Pizza x Nike, and more!
The Ice Cream Project by Anya Hindmarch is back (in London) for it’s fourth year! If wild and wacky is where your tastebuds lie - this pop-up is for you and NOT to be missed. I haven’t made it the past couple of years but was #blessed enough to have a very good friend carry me 6 pints on the Eurostar to Paris last summer - you can read about my commentary on flavors like Kikkoman Soy Sauce, Sarson’s Malt Vinegar, Branston Piccalilli, and more HERE in a previous Cakewalk issue under the (Not Just) Desserts section. But guess what, this year is MY YEAR because I’ll be there to taste ‘em in the flesh at the beginning of July - meet me there?
Catch The Ice Cream Project from 7th June to 17th August at The Village where brand new flavors – with a few return cameos – will be present to celebrate Anya Hindmarch’s favourite cult food brands. And for those who want the full monty, you’re gonna want to book the Ice Cream Project Blind Tasting Tea at Anya Cafe - Try 15 flavours of our cult scoops with wafers and sprinkles, guessing the flavours as you go with your very own tasting score card and branded Ice Cream Project pencil. Book here if you’re bRaVe.

Whether you like Hailey Bieber and her brand Rhode or not, you have to admit that the iconic Rhode phone case is and continues to be a cultural reference point. ~Enter Molly Baz and her mayo brand, Ayoh~ Just this past Friday, Baz was gifted with a top-secret surprise for her birthday whipped up by her Ayoh team – Four 3D-printed phone cases in the aforementioned iconic Rhode format. But instead of lip gloss, these cases house single-serve Ayoh sachets - one for each Ayoh flavor. Is this a glimpse at some super sick merch to come? Would you cop one? (This would compliment my bread phone case super well, lolz.) Would this be considered a hard launch? Hard lunch? Soft launch? Maybe creamy? Lolz ok sorry I’m done. Anyways, I guess time will tell my saucy friends.

Hot on the heels of their previous collaboration with Nike (not really, the 1st time was in 2019 so we’re half a decade in but I wanted to use the idiom lolz), it would appear that Scarr’s Pizza has teamed up with Nike once again for another iteration of the Air Force 1 (this time in black rather than the original white leather) as the pizza joint’s founder, Scarr Pimentel was seen wearing them over the weekend. No word on release deets for yo feet just yet “but if it follows the model set by the original colorway, it’ll be an ultra-limited friends and family colorway. The first Scarr’s Pizza x Nike Air Force 1 low collab was only produced in a run of 48 pairs, one of which sold for a staggering $121,649 at a Sotheby’s auction in 2021.” May pizza be with you.
Tory Burch x Bon Bon NYC teamed up to serve us sugar in style with this exclusive collaboration that launched just yesterday featuring Madelaine Petsch as the face of the campaign. According to Bon Bon’s site, “Tory Burch was one of BonBon's earliest fans, falling for our Swedish candy and spotlighting it at her iconic SS22 fashion show-meets-block party alongside other small businesses” which does make the collab that much sweeter. Aside from candy-colored shoes, bags, & accessories, there are also some cheekier goodies like this playful candy charm bracelet, or the candy charm earring if you’re not a bracelet girly. Otherwise you can opt for a literal sugar rush and just get the Tory Burch x Bon Bon Collection Mix ft. sour, sweet, & marshmallow candies if you’d rather eat your sugar than wear it.

pics courtesy of Mathilde Marthelouze & Fanny Chotel! Just this past Monday, Paris hosted the 2nd edition of the Pain Surprise World Cup and no, I’m not talking about the kind of surprise pain you feel when you accidentally stub your toe on a sharp corner - we’re talking niche miches babyyy! *But actually, wtf is Pain Surprise? In short, it’s a hollowed out loaf that’s filled with petit sandwiches.* Unfortunately I couldn’t make it myself but with the help of some friends (who were actually competing themselves), I got some cute photos. Merci Mathilde Godement Marthelouze & Fanny Chotel! Mathilde also has the niftiest sandwich shop in Paris called Sandwichette - check it out! As for who the winners are? No idea, lolz. The intel’s about as illusive as the event itself - their socials could use a little love. I guess all that just reinforces the “niche” part of it all. I guess we’ll just have to find solace in these gorgeous photos and knowing that this event exists at all lolz.
Carolina Herrera is the latest fashion brand to host a pop-up café in Paris aptly named the Good Girl Coffee Shop in honor of the latest fragrance in the brand’s Good Girl perfume line - Very Good Girl Elixir. This limited time pop-up opened on May 16th and continues through May 25th. The pop-up features signature latte flavors including black sesame, matcha cherry, and ube although I’m unsure of the these flavors’ relevance to the fragrance aside from cherry. . . There are also special pastries by pastry chef Nicolas Paciello featuring a New York Roll (again, unsure of the relevance but hey, checks off all the marks right? lolz) as well as a glambot in case you’re feeling frisky for a “red carpet moment” between the caffeine, sugar rush, and red (carpet) everywhere.

Heinz x Absolut (UK) teamed up for a match made in pasta sauce heaven. . . and I’m obsessed because it just makes sense. Visuals are pretty sweet too. This definitely falls under the think smarter, not harder category but also does not fall too far from April Fool’s territory. Heinz UK is constantly killing it with the collabs and it really makes me wonder what the heck the US team is up to. Heinz US’s best move that I can think of recently is the collab with Kate Spade last summer. With that said, I can’t help but think how wonderful it would be to see a more authentic, home grown approach to it all. I’m looking at you’z Sauce Boss, PJ Monte. Maybe we can expect a future Monte’s x Tito’s (or some other vibey vodka brand) collab of some sort? I better get a VIP invite if so lolz.
Apparently I’m late to the party on this one but - 5 Hour Energy x Taco John’s?!? I don’t even need to know what Taco John’s is to know what that means lolz. This collab was actually released last month, timed with Cinco de Mayo. Had I known about it sooner, you would have had your choice between the 5-hour ENERGY® Energizing Hot Sauce (now sold out) OR the Spicy Cinco De Mango 5 Hr Energy Shot. (Un)Fortunately, you can still get your hands on the aforementioned energy shot HERE in either a 6-pack or a 12-pack. Why fucking not I guess.
Totino’s Pizza Roll Dispensing Freezer - “After a viral IG video showing a hacked fridge dispensing Pizza Rolls instead of ice racked up 25 million views, fans flooded the comments begging Totino’s to make it real. And they did. Because apparently, Totino’s listens to the unhinged whisperings of the internet.” - Foodbeast
And lastly, ICYMI. . .

Cento Raw Bar is the stuff of Pinterest wet dreams. I said what I said.
Your feed may or may not have been blown up by this new kid on the LA block (open as of May 12th) this past week but mine certainly has and let me tell you, for someone who’s not particularly drawn to oysters, raw seafood, and the like, this makes me want to choke it all down with a smile if it means getting to sit inside this restaurant. (That’s coming from someone who lives in Paris - a city filled with gorgeous, scene-y, aesthetic cafes and restaurants.) Like, I want to live in their beautifully curated world of mosaic cheesecake (slide 6), gorgeous table and glasswares, etc etc. Consider this place at the very top of my current restaurant wishlist. “The restaurant comes from chef Avner Levi, director of operations Adrien D’Attellis, and creative director Brandon Miradi; Avner’s first restaurant, Cento Pasta Bar, opened in December 2021”. - Eater

I went to the Ice Cream Project four times last summer. I avoided buying a few pints of the Pesto because I knew I had a problem, but by the time I gave in it two days before the pop-up ended it was finally gone (probably for the best). So, so good. Also worth trying, Tropicana, the Maldon salt chocolate sorbet and the Jaffa Cake flavor.
So good!
